Carter Lonsberry
Founder, National Association of Medical Device Representatives (NAMDR) | CEO, Hospital Rep Safety Solutions (HRSS) | Architect of the REP Number™ Standard
Carter Lonsberry is a nationally recognized advocate for elevating the role of medical device representatives in surgical settings. He is the founder of the National Association of Medical Device Representatives (NAMDR) and CEO of Hospital Rep Safety Solutions (HRSS), a federally listed Patient Safety Organization (PSO #P0264). With over 26 years of experience spanning surgical sales, executive leadership, and policy-driven innovation, Carter works with hospitals, vendor credentialing companies, and regulatory leaders to align medical device representative competency with healthcare system priorities.
Lonsberry will share how his mission is rooted in the belief that medical device representatives play a critical, often underregulated, role in patient outcomes. Through HRSS, he focuses on closing the oversight gap for non-hospital personnel who enter sterile environments. His work supports hospitals as they respond to the CMS 2025 Final Rule and patient safety measures that emphasize competency, infection control, and education for non-licensed individuals.
As architect of the REP Number™ (Registered Essential Person) standard, Carter promotes a nationally verifiable identity that links competency-based education to the expectations of accrediting bodies such as The Joint Commission and DNV. His work supports hospitals in meeting regulatory goals while reinforcing internal policies and improving surgical readiness. He will speak about his collaboration with healthcare systems, state and federal agencies, and public health leaders to ensure that vendor credentialing and surgical support are built on accountability, measurable standards, and transparency.
Michael Redler, M.D.
Orthopaedic Surgeon | Founding Partner, Connecticut Orthopaedics | Assistant Professor, Frank H. Netter School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University
Dr. Michael Redler will provide attendees a clinical perspective to the Symposium’s conversations on vendor credentialing, surgical readiness and safety, and collaboration among all stakeholders in advancing patient care. A founding partner of The Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center—now part of Connecticut Orthopaedics—Dr. Redler specializes in sports medicine and upper extremity surgery.
Currently an Assistant Professor at Quinnipiac University’s Frank H. Netter School of Medicine, Dr. Redler is also a global lecturer, surgical innovator, and respected voice in ambulatory surgery leadership and education. Additionally, he has designed multiple surgical instruments that are still used in ORs around the world today.
Amidst all of his accomplishments, Dr. Redler still feels that his most important activity is the best possible care of his patients as well as the ongoing education of future sports medicine providers. He is also passionate about the business of ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs) and the importance of the entire surgical team including surgical reps.
Having served on the Physician Leadership Board of One World Surgery and participated in numerous medical missions to Honduras, he will provide a real-world perspective to how standardization of credentialing throughout healthcare systems can improve patient outcomes—not only in U.S. medical facilities, but around the globe.
